In what I would say is a sad day for American taxpayers, the U.S. House of Representatives approved the $700 billion financial markets rescue package. It was the second time this week the House voted.
Lawmakers voted 263-171 to pass the bill. On Monday, it rejected an earlier version, but accepted changes after the Senate added sweeteners and supported it on Wednesday. Voting yes were 223 Democrats and 41 Republicans. Voting no were 8 Democrats and 150 Republicans.
Now for the roll call of our Kentucky Congressmen:
Senators (voted on Wednesday):
Jim Bunning (R) - Nay
Mitch McConnell (R) - Aye
Representatives:
Harold Rogers (R) - Aye
Ed Whitfield (R) - Nay
Ron Lewis (R) - Aye
Geoff Davis (R) - Nay
Ben Chandler (D) - Nay
John Yarmuth (D) - Aye
Note: The votes have been updated as the earlier roll call was incorrect. It looks like it was split across the board.
