Jody Richards- Losing Speaker position?

Filed under: , , by: Andrew

Here are two good reasons why a close election in the vote for the Speaker of the House is good for the republican party.

1. a 50/50 vote shows a divide in the democrat party, a number of representitives will not support the new speaker and it will be hard for them to show unity after a hard "election"

2. If Jody does lose his long held position it will set up the GOP to retake a long held democratic seat. He will be a recent loser of his speaker position, and he will be seen as washed up. The GOP needs to put a strong candidate up against Jody Richards after his seat comes up for re-election again.

What does everyone else think? I love to see democrats fight democrats, and I think it is comical how they lie to each other. Each guarantees that they have the race in the bag!

Here is a full article with quotes from both candidates, Stumbo and Richards. Can anyone give any insight on whether or not Stumbo was involved in a drunk driving incident?

What will the former speaker do now? He says finish his term but did not say if he would be re-elected. This is a great chance for the Republicans to gain back a seat I believe
